Here are some of the improvements in Office 2016 that will make your transition better.


  • Remove old shortcuts from task bar.  If you don't you will continue to open the old version of Office.

  • Share > Collaborative Real time Chat
  • File > History (Previous Versions) 
  • Tell me - Search up top to describe what you want to do 
  • File > Options > General > Office Themes 
  • Share > Share with People saves to SharePoint 

Excel

  • 12 New Chart Types
  • Forecasting
  • Smart Lookup (Internet lookup for values in the cell) - Review > Smart Lookup 

PowerPoint

  •  New Transitions
  • Screen Recording - saves into presentation as a video
  • Export > Save presentation as a video

Outlook

  •  Attach File:
    • Pulls from recent
    • Browse Web Location to pull from OneDrive 
    • Browse from PC
  • Clutter - spot for emails that are not necessarily spam but are not that important
  • Groups
    • Will be used with Teams (like a public folder)
    • Create new private groups as well 

Skype for Business

  •  Instant Messaging
  • Contacts 
    • Right Click - add to favorites, group, IM, send email, start video chat
    • Status 
  • Primary Audio Device - bottom left
  • Groups = Teams 
  • File > Meet Now = "WebEx" 
  • Network Quality icon 
  • Still learning about the Audio/Phone portion of the application
