Prerequisites
- Know your iTunes username and password
- If you are using [email protected] a backup and restore will not be possible and you will have to start your new iPad as a new device and you can skip the Existing Device section.
- iOS device is up to date. Go to Settings > General > Software Update
Royal Owned iOS devices
- Power on the device
- Select your Language and Location
- Join a wi-fi network.
- At the Apps & Data screen select ‘Set Up as New iPad’
- If you see the message ‘Royal Electric will automatically configure your iPad’ then you can SKIP the Enroll in Meraki step.
- Log in your iTunes account. See notes below about iTunes accounts.
- At the Configure a Passcode screen press the Configurations button and select a 4 digit PIN. Enter in a 4 digit PIN.
- Enable Siri if you wish
- Configure Touch if you wish
- Enabling Sharing on both Apple and Developers.
- Install Meraki and Enroll in Meraki MDM if applicable - see below.
- You will start getting prompted for credentials
- If the pop up references iTunes account then this is your iTunes password and will need to be entered for each application that needs to get installed.
- If the pop up references Royal Exchange then this is your Royal computer/email password and should only need to get entered once.
BYOD - Personal iOS devices
Install Meraki per the instructions below.When you call into IT please let them know if it's a personal or corporate device.
iTunes email account
- Create a new iTunes account using your [email protected] email address
Updating to the latest iOS
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update
- If there is an update please do it
Enroll in Meraki MDM
From the device, open: m.meraki.comEnter your Network ID: 032-883-6123Press RegisterIn the profile that appears, press 'install', then 'install' again to confirmCall IT at 916-226-2100
Follow the steps above for Meraki MDMTell IT that it's a personal device and we will tag accordingly.
Option B - Configure Email. You might have to deal with random certificate trust warnings.
- Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Click Add Account
- Select Exchange
- Put in your Royal email address and your computer password
- If you get a warning about a Certificate not being trusted select Trust Anyway
